What can you expect for 2024? Here are a few key events, forecast and trends to watch out for.
Events
Paris will be hosting the XXXIII Olympiad and for the first time, the Games’ opening ceremony will be held outside a stadium, with athletes introduced floating down the Seine and games taking place in front of iconic landmarks. After the incredible success of the Women's World Cup in ANZ, Germany will be hosting the Euro 2024 football competition and the Asian Cup hosted by Qatar where the Australian Socceroos kicking off their campaign against India in January.
2024 is also a politically significant year with over 64 elections taking place, including in 7 of the top 10 populous countries - India, Unites States of America, European Union and Russian Federation.
Economic Forecast
It is an understatement to say the past couple of year have been economically tumultuous, 2024 will likely to remain as uncertain. The global economy ended 2023 in better shape than expected with falling inflation in much of the world leading to likely interest rate cuts in 2024. However, wars and the impact of climate crisis will continue to wreak havoc across the global economic landscape. The 64 elections taking place will most certainly add to the level of unpredictability.
Consumer Trends
Consumers are adapting to a world where the high cost-of-living and economic uncertainty is front-of-mind and is driving what we want from the people and organisations around us. In the beauty, health and wellness space, consumers are expecting more from technology and science-backed products. Consumers will be embracing cost-conscious and climate-friendly diets such as through lab-synthesised meats. What's not changing are consumers frequently exploring products, consume content and make purchases on their devices. In order to remain relevant, businesses must embrace virtual technologies to drive growth.
